Is the brain a good model for machine intelligence?

Recently, I read a good commentary on Science on the future of general Artificial Intelligence and human brain. Most experts agree that still far distance between AI algorithms and the real structure of brains. We need to delve deep into algorithmic level of neuroscience researches to have better algorithms in AI. The most biology-inspired models in AI might be neural network and deep learning. However, their links with our real neural system is tenuous and rare.
